Maui Day Six

Woke up at 5am - oof! Had some leftover pancakes, and drove up to Lahaina, where we scurried around to find an ATM, grabbed a bagel at FSG&B, and caught a 7:15am ferry to Molokai. Wow, what a rough ride! We got in, and took a shuttle to the airport, where we rented a car for the day. After grabbing a pizza at Molokai Pizza Cafe, we headed west to check out the beach scene in Molokai. The first beach we hit was Kapukahehu beach (aka Dixie Maru), which was crowded for Molokai standards (2-3 couples), so after a quick dip and a short lay-out session (we fried the back side today), we set out jumping across the lava rocks, looking for another more private nearby beach. We did find a nice small sandy cove, but were unable to enjoy the serenity since we hadn't checked the time, and we needed to be back by 3:15pm. We jetted back to the car, and hey it's only around 1:30, so let's go explore some other beaches! We then stumbled across Papohaku Beach, probably the most beautiful and deserted beach I've ever seen.

After another sunbathing session, we headed back to the airport to return our rental car (with a short detour to the post office to send back some coconuts!), took the shuttle back to the port, and barely survived the very tumultuous ferry ride back to Maui.
