Maui Day Five

Woke up early again, still on CA time ;) Skipped around the corner to Gian Don's $5.95 breakfast.

Came back home to brown/burn our front sides and play frisbee before making the last minute decision to venture down the road to hana that afternoon. Picked up few hitchhickers along the way (two teenagers in kihei and one old veteran only a few minutes outside hana).

Road to Hana: Beautiful!! Though less ocean and more waterfall views (we preferred the ocean views north of lahiana).

We scurried along at a fast clip as the flood of exiting tourists washed through the many one lane portions of the hana highway. After attaining hana we immediately set out for the 7 "sacred" pools, took a quick hike to the waterfalls there and headed back.

We stopped at a roadside thai stand for dinner. It was filled with locals drinking beer (which the stand did not (could not?) sell). After we sat down to eat we were offered good ol' yellow tail to help send our yummy chicken veggie curry atop brown rice down to its final resting place. It was interesting to hear the locals gab about the normal things - weather, pricing of housing, traffic etc. with a uniquely hawaiian flavor.

As we headed out after our yummy meal the over burdened clouds above finally let loose. We had, fortunately, anticipated this and were already driving top up :) The downpour did not stop pete from tarrying to splash in a roadside waterfall we had spotted on the way in. I ventured out to capture the moment but only succeeded in recording astonishingly large, flash illuminated, globular raindrops...

My efforts were rewarded with complete dew point saturation. After a little incident with a runaway dog, we were on our way home again. Exhausted I dropped into bed while my wonder husband got things together for our early morning the next day.
